interferon-alpha. By block the effects of interferon-alpha, MEDI-545 may

with this antibody have demonstrated that it can stamp down activity of
interferon-alpha in patients with lupus and that its safety visibility
supports further clinical evolution in lupus."

The Phase 2A clinical trial is designed to evaluate the safety and
tolerability of multiple subcutaneous dose schedules of MEDI-545 or placebo
in grownup patients with moderately to severely active lupus. The study will
also assess the effects of MEDI-545 on disease activity in lupus patients.
This randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-dose trial will
be conducted at about 20 sites end-to-end the United States.

MEDI-545 was generated by immunizing the Medarex transgenic
HuMab-Mouse(R) with natural human interferon-alpha.

Model's Pals Honeymooning At Clooney's Italian Retreat

Friends of George Clooney's ex-girlfriend are still benefitting from model Sarah Larson's year-long romance - one is honeymooning at the movie star's Italian retreat on the banks of Lake Como. The unnamed pal got the greenlight to use Clooney's Italian palace when the star was still dating the model - and the generous actor insisted on honouring the arrangement even after he split from Larson last month . Mutual friend Andrea Tiede tells Life & Style magazine, "A friend of ours who just got married is using George's house in Lake Como, Italy, right now for her honeymoon. "Obviously, this was arranged when Sarah and George were still dating, but he (Clooney) cares about Sarah, so I wasn't surprised he honoured the offer of his house." Tiede admits the wedding was tinged with sadness - because the bride and groom had hoped Clooney would be a guest. Instead Larson had to attend without a date. Of her friend's break-up, Tiede says, "It's been hard... She (Larson) was swept up. They just had a few small fights and disagreements, and it all unravelled from there."

Band to Manager: We've Been Motley Scrued!

The members of Motley Crue have filed yet another lawsuit against their management, once again claiming they're the victims of greed and shady deals.

In the lawsuit, filed today in LA County Superior Court, band members say manager Burt Stein and his management companies were supposed to watch their back -- but instead took money and made backroom deals without their permission in order to cash in on the band's popularity.

If this sounds familiar, it is. Back in 2006 the band sued another manager, essentially alleging the same thing. That case was settled.

We couldn't reach Stein for comment.

Jolie Owns Tomb Raider Guns For Protection

Angelina Jolie has armed herself with the same guns she used in the movie Tomb Raider - and wouldn't hesitate to use the weapons to protect her growing family. The Hollywood actress, who is pregnant with twins, admits she and her partner Brad Pitt keep a gun at home for their own safety. And her action roles in movies like Mr and Mrs Smith have taught her how to handle such a weapon. She says, "I bought original real guns of the type we used in Tomb Raider for security. "If anybody comes into my home and tries to hurt my kids, I've no problem shooting them. "Brad and I are not against having a gun in the house, and we do have one. And yes, I'd be able to use it if I had to." The superstar couple is also in favour of teaching their growing brood self-defence, so they can protect themselves when they're older. She adds, "I think it's good for anybody to learn a skill when it comes to fight training, be it king fu, boxing or kick-boxing, because self-defence is important. "Brad and I want our kids to learn it. They're going to get into a fight someday, so they might as well learn how to take care of themselves." Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children: Maddox, Pax and Zahara; and biological daughter Shiloh.
